The Heckler was a seminal film in Chance’s career. In his words, “I finally listened to my teachers and got vulnerable.” A proverbial aspiring standup comes to a mic alone from seemingly nowhere attempting to tell jokes in front of a crowd of strangers.
This is a story played out time and again wherein a hero honors their dreams and takes a leap of faith. The hero’s mind, however, is simultaneously stoking the flames of fear and doubt. The Heckler is a psychological dramady about the comedian’s mental push-pull that Chance and all comedian’s know too well.
